We live in a world dominated by screens and constant notifications, it’s easy to lose sight of simple, human moments. Charlie and I have six children between us ranging from 32 to 21 and two grandsons; we know how precious time with loved ones is, they’re never too far away and That Swing Seat offers us a welcome escape from technology, inviting you to step away and rediscover the joy of just being present. It’s a time and space for conversation, reflection, and laughter— to just be in the moment

Charlie and I were chilling on the swing seat. Charlie’s daughter came along, followed by my youngest daughter. It started to gently rain. The fire pit was extinguished as the heavens truly opened up. It started pouring with rain, huddled together on the swing seat was Charlie and I with our daughters and our fur babies, Syd the standard poodle and Sammy the spaniel. Yes, I did say a standard poodle! You can imagine the squeeze! Our daughters are not short, there were arms and legs and paws everywhere while the rain pelted down. We couldn’t stop laughing. It reminded me of a scene from Winnie The Pooh where Tigger and friends take shelter from the rain. It was magic!

During the school holidays, Charlie and I love to spontaneously jump in our camper van, and just go. Go anywhere that is different; to make more memories and savour special times, however we always come to the time when we feel like we are ready to come home and extend our holiday by using our swing seat in our garden at Quex Park and listen to the peacocks, parakeets, bees and birds. Priceless.

It’s our perfect retreat for quiet personal moments - whether that’s just sitting together reading a book or alone meditating.

We started this business because, like many, we’ve found that the demands of our work leave little time to truly unwind. I’m a teacher, working long hours with students, while Charlie spends his days immersed in the digital world. We know how important it is to have a space to disconnect and relax, so we decided to create swing seats that offer more than just comfort—they’re a way to reclaim those peaceful moments. The journey of designing and crafting the perfect fabric and style has been a deeply personal one for us. And, let’s be honest, there were plenty of late nights spent debating the right shade of blue, red, white and taupe (and believe me, there are many shades). We’d argue over the nuances, then wake up the next morning, bleary-eyed, with yet another idea to try. It’s not just about business; it’s about sharing the sense of calm and joy we’ve found in creating something beautiful together—after all, the best things in life are made with a little laughter (and a lot of coffee and chocolate). We hope our swing seats help others find that same sense of escape and relaxation in their lives.
